At MIPIM 2016, nine European startups pitched their proposals in a bid to prove their ability to disrupt and enhance the Real Estate industry. ParkBee were awarded First Place after impressing the judges with our innovative use of a city’s under-utilised spaces, our entry into the ever-growing ‘sharing economy’ and our strong business model and growth. The win earned us a place at MIPIM Cannes, where we will be present next month. At MIPIM this year, we will once again be competing for a top spot in the Startup category.

In the UK, there are 1.1 million private parking spaces in office buildings within paid parking areas. These sit empty for various periods of time, opening a perfect opportunity to utilise the empty space, and profit through a shared economy. We have developed smart technology that opens up private car parks to the public through our partners Ringo and Parkmobile, making the parking experience seamless and more affordable.

We ensure that parking is at least 30% cheaper at our sites than the on-street parking tariff while also making the experience enjoyable for drivers. ParkBee is getting thumbs-up from environmentalists too, as our sustainable use of empty space helps to reduce construction while our flexible parking model reduces search traffic emission.

To date, we have secured over 4,000 parking spaces in 40 different locations, earning up to £4,000 per parking space per year, and have raised £1.8 million in funding. Co-Founder of ParkBee, Tom Buchmann said “We cannot wait to attend MIPIM this year and show the industry how far we have come since last year. We’ve opened our London office, have launched 4 UK sites with more in the pipeline and are experiencing promising growth. We have a brilliant team who are all working hard to grow ParkBee within the industry. As the business model makes so much sense, we have had a really positive response from site owners, drivers and investors. This is hugely reassuring and we are all excited for the future of ParkBee”.
